Event planners urged to host business events in Australia to support bushfire-affected regions1/30/2020
The business events industry will play an integral part in rebuilding Australia’s visitor economy this year. Businesses and event planners across the country are being urged to host business events in Australia to support bushfire impacted regions as well as other communities across Australia who have also been impacted from fewer visitors.
The Association of Australian Convention Bureaux (AACB) commend the Australian Government on its prompt recovery response to the recent bushfires in some parts of Australia. Through its initial $76 million Tourism Recovery Fund, the Government will address the global misinformation and perceptions about the bushfires in Australia and stimulate travel to and within the country. The Thailand Chapter of Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) has won the Rising Star Award for 2019 at SITE’s 2020 Global Conference held in Vancouver, Canada from January 24-27, 2020. The annual awards honour individual members and chapter organisations that have contributed to the association and the world’s incentive travel industry.
Marriott International has opened the first Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Suwon, part of the new MICE Complex within Suwon Gwanggyo New Town in South Korea. The hotel officially opened on 3 January attended by Mayor Yeom Tae-young, Mayor of Suwon City, Kim Young-chul, CEO of Hanwha Hotel & Resort, Choi Kwang-ho, CEO of Hanwha E & C and Nam Ki-duk, CEO of Marriott International Korea. The hotel is a key addition to the developing MICE Complex, currently comprised of Suwon Convention Center and Gwanggyo Lake Park.
