At the IT&CM Asia and CTW Asia Pacific official press conference held on 24 September 2019 in Bangkok, Mr Darren Ng, Managing Director of TTG Asia Media announced that this double-bill MICE and corporate travel event had surpassed last year’s performance with an increase in delegate participation across all delegate categories.
The show attracted 345 new and returning destinations and brands along with 474 pre-confirmed MICE, Association and Corporate Buyers. Returning exhibitors have increased their space take-up with TCEB helming the largest pavilion of 600sqm followed by Tourism Promotions Board, Philippines of 210sqm. This year, the show also welcoming more than 10 new destinations and corporate brands.
Mr Ng took the opportunity to summarise offers several new initiatives and knowledge programmes aimed at elevating the event experience for all delegates.
Mr Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, President of Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) revealed that this year, TCEB attracted for the first time all five MICE cities of Thailand – Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya and Khon Kaen – to set up their own booths to showcase their MICE products and services.
On top of that, TCEB is offering two new support campaigns at the show. One is “Meet Now – Beyond Bangkok and Pattaya”, to provide support for meeting and incentive groups holding their events in cities outside Bangkok and Pattaya. The other is Meet Now – The Big Sisters: Bangkok or Pattaya to provide support for meeting and incentive groups holding events in either Bangkok or Pattaya. These campaigns are in line with the Thai government’s policy to promote alternative cities as a destination among travellers.
TCEB is also providing services based on innovation and new technology for the industry. At Thailand National Pavilion, buyers will find the “Showcase Area” that feature, for example, photographic-planner application for business travel called SNEAK, F&B venue finder application called POTIONEER. Visitors will also get to meet Thai start-ups to explore new ideas in digitalisation that can be instrumental for MICE industry. TCEB aspires to be a thought leader and through this showcase, and to foster new relationships that will advance the industry.
At the press conference, Mr Ng extended appreciation to IT&CM Asia’s host country and strategic partner TCEB and official airline THAI Airways International for unwavering support in making IT&CMA and CTW Asia-Pacific an annual success.
