Hôtels & Préférence Hualing Tbilisi is a five-star Hotel located just 20 minutes from the Tbilisi Airport and about 30 minutes from Tbilisi Old Town. The promotional materials described it as being “...located on the shorelines of the famous Tbilisi Sea”. In case you start forming in your mind, images of a resort hotel nestled on the beachfront with wavy blue sea, let us clarify that Tbilisi “Sea” is actually a huge man-made reservoir created in 1953. Although Tbilisi Sea is a popular recreational destination, it is not exactly a sea with white sandy beach. Given its proximity to the airport, Hôtels & Préférence Hualing Tbilisi is more suited as a business and convention hotel. Hôtels & Préférence Hualing Tbilisi has an impressive lobby with high ceiling and spacious waiting areas. The large glass frontage, marbled floor and walls with just the right tinge of wood and gold trimmings, give the lobby a very clean, classic yet modern feel. The Grand Ballroom, located just next to the lobby, has an area of 800sqm with 8m ceiling height and capacity of up to 600 guests in theatre-style seating arrangement. Large windows allow natural daylight to fill the elegant ballroom. This is a great venue for holding conventions, exhibitions or gala dinners, although a more private pre-function area would be good.
There are six other meeting rooms that can accommodate from 10 to 160 guests for seminars, workshops and other events. In addition, some of the F&B outlets, including private rooms in the Chinese restaurant, can also be converted to meeting rooms. Unfortunately, the clean and classic design theme of the hotel lobby and ballroom does not carry through to the rest of the function rooms. There is a lack of consistency in interior decor, furnishings, colour theme and even lighting colour for the function rooms, or in fact, the rest of the Hotel. The Hotel has 246 guest rooms and one of the things you would notice when walking toward the room is the very wide corridor. Not many hotels offer such luxury in corridor space. Hotel guests will definitely feel less claustrophobic walking along the corridor. The rooms are equally spacious, but again, there is no consistency in design. The designs of the larger suites tried to replicate classical European luxury, but turned out somewhat busy and overwhelming. A separate building across the car park caters to the recreational needs of the guests, providing gym, spa and swimming pool facilities. The facilities are also open to other paying club members, who may be residents in the vicinity. Hôtels & Préférence Hualing Tbilisi has the capacity to be a great convention hotel, though some effort in seeing through a consistent design would add much value to guest experience.
