The Funicular is the terminal building at the top of Mount Mtatsminda for Tbilisi’s funicular system. At a height of 770 metres, it is the highest point in Tbilisi overlooking the Georgian capital. The Funicular is located within the Mtatsminda Park, which consists of nature and amusement park facilities. The construction of Tbilisi’s funicular system began in September 1903 and opened on 27 March 1905. The funicular re-opened in 2012 after many years of disuse. The maximum number of people on each tram is 60. While this may be an interesting experience for tourists, MICE organizers may find it too slow to transport larger groups of people. Taking the tour coach might be a better option for MICE groups. The Funicular building was completed in 1938. It comprises several spaces for events. On the ground level consists of a cafe and a restaurant which opens out into a terrace where guests can relax and enjoy the breeze. The outdoor terrace is a great place for some cocktail reception. On the second level housed the Funicular Restaurant, a bar and fine-dining restaurant that has a cozy and comfortable decor. The restaurant has a capacity of 250 guests, but there is additional space on the long balcony. On the third floor is a classic grand ballroom with high ceiling height. Although there is no balcony on this level, the full height glass windows provide panoramic view of the city of Tbilisi. This is an excellent venue for conference or gala dinner of up to 350 guests in classroom or banquet seating arrangements. For more information, please click here. Comments are closed.
