The elegant historic building that had its beginnings as Hotel Majestic has been through two world wars, a civil war and functioned as hotel, hospital and trade union house since 1915. In 2002, Tbilisi Marriott Hotel started operations in this reconstructed and restored building. The hotel is certainly for those who loved history, nostalgia and the old world charm. The lobby is a travel back in time, and the lounge retained the “Majestic” name as a reminder to the property’s heritage. The hotel was undergoing upgrading at the time of MICEreview’s visit. The upgraded design uses a white colour theme and more contemporary yet classic interior decor. This design theme is consistent from lift lobby, corridors to the rooms. It gives a brighter, more cheerful and refreshing feel. Space-wise, it is not a very large hotel, hence its event space is also somewhat limited. The Ballroom, the Hotel's largest venue, has a capacity of up to 230 guests in theatre-style seating. There are several other meeting rooms, all of which were not available for inspection during our visit. Although constrained by the configuration of this old building, the Marriott is able to hold larger events as it manages two other properties in Georgia - the Courtyard Tbilisi and Moxy Hotel Tbilisi.
