The Biltmore Hotel, Tbilisi, Georgia

Traveling to Tbilisi, capital city of Georgia, during the rather cold month of March, we certainly felt at home at The Biltmore Hotel, part of Singapore’s homegrown Millennium & Copthorne group of hotels. Although arriving at wee hours of the morning and longing to tuck into bed to catch some sleep, we can’t help but noticed the classical-styled  lobby with polished marble floors and crystal chandeliers exuding glamour and luxury.
As we half sleep-walked to our room, we sensed some change in style and atmosphere. Once in the room, despite our tiredness, we were impressed by the spaciousness of the room and the modern facilities available.

It was not till the morning after that we realised the lobby was located in the historic former parliament building of Georgia, hence the classic architecture and interior design. This building also houses the 170 seat Amphitheatre of the Biltmore Hotel. Taking a seat in this theatre or having the opportunity to speak here would be a special experience, as it is in this chamber that the first constitutions of this nation were passed.
And our nocturnal sensing was quite accurate as the 214 guest rooms are located in a new modern building, which happens to be the first glass skyscraper in Georgia and one of the tallest hotels in the Caucasus region. Also located in this new building are facilities such as spa, gym and pool, as well as the Ballroom that can accommodate up to about 500 guests in theatre-style. The Ballroom offers very high ceiling for large staging. This is certainly an excellent venue for conferences and banquets. There are also eight smaller meeting rooms for conducting workshops and seminars.

The staff we encountered in this hotel were very friendly and helpful. And it is certainly convenient to have a bank branch and teller machines located right within the hotel. If there is one grime to gripe about the Biltmore, it would be the power sockets - they seemed to have very low power and it took exceptionally long time to charge phones and devices,
